The Towns of Whitecourt and Kamiyuetsu
signed a twinning agreement in 1998 to recognize the bonds of
friendship that exist between the two communities.
Regular correspondence and visits between the two communities
have offered both enriching and positive insights into a different
culture.
A School Exchange Program was developed several years ago that
has given school children from both towns travel opportunities
that otherwise might not have been possible. Friendship Park,
located in the downtown core, commemorates this special relationship
that will continue to grow.
